Q-Switched Nd: YAG 1064 nm lasers are ideal for treating darker tattoo ink colors like black, blue, and green. At the 532 nm wavelength, the ClearLift effectively removes bright ink colors like red, orange, and yellow. The Q-Switched laser works by breaking down and vibrating ink particles. As the tattoo removal area heals, your body’s immune system destroys the ink particles and causes the tattoo to fade with little risk of scarring or hyperpigmentation.
What improvements will I see?
Outcomes after laser tattoo removal can vary for every individual. Following your treatment session, your tattoo should appear lighter. You may notice that certain areas and colors respond faster than others. Typically, 6-8 sessions are recommended. In some cases, it may take up to 15 treatment sessions.
That depends on the size, age, and location of the tattoo. Some large tattoos are so big they can’t be covered in one session, thus requiring more appointments. Also, older tattoos are harder to remove as over time the pigment goes deeper within the skin. Intervals of 6-8 weeks between sessions are required.
Prior to your treatment, your skin may be numbed with a topical anesthetic cream. During your treatment, most patients report a sensation of heat or a rubberband snap to the skin. While your skin may be slightly red immediately after the procedure, this should resolve within a few hours. You can resume your normal activities immediately following the treatment. Strict SPF and appropriate wound care will be reviewed after every laser session.
