How many treatments are needed?

Depending on your condition and severity, 1 to 3 treatment sessions may be recommended. Each treatment session is scheduled 4-6 weeks apart. Some patients will see significant improvement after just one treatment. The procedure has 5-7 days of social downtime.

What to expect during treatment

Prior to your treatment, your skin may be numbed with a topical anesthetic cream.
During your treatment, most patients report a prickling sensation or a sensation of heat.
In general, the procedure can feel similar to a sunburn. The perception of a sunburn is likely to continue for 4-6 hours after treatment. These symptoms are a normal part of the healing process and should improve quickly. Most patients report redness and swelling for 72 hours following the procedure. Your skin will begin to have a sandpaper-like texture on days 3-4 that will begin to slough off. By the 5th or 6th day, the skin will be smooth and look much healthier. The collagen remodeling occurs over several months so there will be a progressive improvement in wrinkling and scars.

AFTERCARE

  • Please refrain from any retinols or active skincare until the skin is completely healed (usually 7-10 days).
  • Use the ointment provided by your provider as directed.
